The apartment, with attention to detail and beautifully furnished, is located in the ancient center of Syracuse, the island of Ortigia, with more than thirty centuries of history, a stone's throw from the beautiful "Piazza Duomo" and from the other wonderful attractions present on the island. To access the "Domus Ottavia in Ortigia" one passes through a small medieval arch into a quiet and charming courtyard, which makes the house particularly quiet. Immediately you have the perception of becoming part of a scenography full of history and, if guided by the observation of details, you can read the passage of time ... The structure dates back to the first centuries of the last millennium while some parts, more "modern", to 1700. Once on the first floor, you are introduced to large, bright and welcoming rooms. For you two charming balconies, one of which, in winter, is kissed by the sun from early morning! The exposed stone highlights all the ancient jambs and the one made "visible" on the walls testifies to its historicity. The large living room, with its vaulted ceiling, is the ideal place to enjoy a pleasant rest. Its sofa bed guarantees a special comfort, proof of the most demanding guests! The large window overlooks another courtyard, which is also internal and away from the noise of the street. The beautiful dining room, with its large round table, in stone mosaic, is the center of the house. A large and functional kitchenette is at your complete disposal. A small graceful study acts as an antechamber to the bedroom where a precious bed dominates, a refined work of master carvers of the past. Last but not least is the comfortable bathroom which is accessed from a hallway with the laundry area. Every detail has been taken care of to respect the historical character of the house: from the "Modica stone" floor to the original "vaulted" or wooden ceilings. All windows are fitted with wooden shutters. The apartment is equipped with an excellent air conditioning system which also functions as winter heating. There are two “smart TV” televisions with satellite connection, connected to the internet by an excellent wi-fi. If you have the desire to take a "swim in the sea" on the fly, a few steps away is the equipped beach of "Forte Vigliena", with free access, served with showers and with the possibility of immediately plunging into a fabulous sea, through convenient access. If you wish we can organize a transfer, for a fee, from Catania airport to "Domus Ottavia in Ortigia" or, if you have a car in tow, we can book your parking space in a private garage, for a fee, just 150 meters from home. This entitles you to a transit permit in the ZTL of Ortigia for the entire period of your stay. The apartment is at your complete disposal.
